image_resize.phpThere are many different types of adapters and fittings the list below gives you a brief description of what each one is.

Adapter - this is a fitting that is designed to connect different types of hose, tubing or pipe together.

Bulkhead Fittings - are designed to be mounted in a wall or bulkhead to allow tube connection on either side of a barrier.

Cap -  attached over the outside of a tube end to stop the flow.

Compression Fitting -  tightens down a sleeve over a joint to prevent leaks.

Coupling, Connector, Hose Mender -  used to join two pieces of hose or tubing

Flexible Coupling -  a coupling that has some amount of flexibility

Cross 4-way - a fitting with four connecting ports usually in the shape of a cross

Crimp Socket -  crimped over a hose end to attach to a fitting

90 Degree Elbow -  allows for a 90 degree change in direction

45 Degree Elbow - allows for a 45 degree change in direction

Other Angle Elbow - allows for any other degree change in direction

Reducing Elbow - this will join two pieces of different size pipe

Expansion Joint Coupling - this connects sections of tubes and provides allowance for movement due to service load, shock or thermal cycles

Ferrule -  a sleeve type fitting that slips over two ends to join them

Gland -  the male part of a tube connection

Nipple -  a short straight connector fitting usually with male threaded ends

Offset -  fitting between runs of tube that are parallel but not aligned

Plug -  inserted into the end of a hose to stop the flow

Reducer Concentric - used to fit different size ends to connect hose or tubing of a different diameter, joins sections on the same axis

Reducer Eccentric -  used to fit different size ends to connect hose or tubing of a different diameter, joins tube sections that are parallel but not aligned

Return Trap - 180 degree U shaped fitting that can be used to reverse flow direction

Side Outlet Elbow - an elbow with an additional outlet at the corner

Side Outlet Tee - a tee with an additional outlet at the junction

Tee Equal -  three port fitting  in the shape of a T

Tee Reducing -  fitting in which the ranch port is smaller than the ports of the run

Tee Bullhead - a tee that the branch port is larger than the run ports

Union -  fitting that connects two pieces of tube and allows for disconnection with out cutting

Wye Equal -  three port fitting is in the shape of the letter Y where a branch departs the run at an angle other than 90 degrees, three outlets are of equal size

Wye Reducing - this fitting has a smaller branch outlet than the run outlets
