image_resizeHave you done some remodeling lately, put new pipes in your home, do you need or want an eco friendly way to dispose of your old PVC pipe?

Here are some new ideas:

Recycling - Many communities have a recycling program that is run by your local garbage company - PVC pipe can be put out on the curb with the other plastics and recyclables.

Donation - Check with the charitable organizations in your community, many of these places will take old PVC pipe to help low income families make needed repairs on their homes. You may even be able to claim a portion of it on your taxes.

Mulch - Some of the local home stores can throw old PVC in to a chipper to create an inexpensive mulch for you to use in your landscaping.

Re Purpose - If you find yourself with small pieces left over after a project you can use them to divert water from the downspout or as an extender, also with a little bit of research on the internet I have found you could also make a neat little lawn chair out of PVC pipe which could make an interesting family project.

So if you are looking at the PVC pipe you have around your home and thinking exactly what am I going to do with this and do not want to just throw it in the trash these are some great ways to take care of it and the environment.
